John Davis Hart ’44

Body

BUD PASSED AWAY May 6, 1991, at a nursing home in Charleston, W.Va. He had returned to the U.S. in 1990, from his long residence in Rome, Italy, weakened from the recurrence of effects of polio contracted in Mexico 40 years earlier. Bud was never involved with our class after leaving Princeton in 1942, He enteredthe V5 program, was commissioned, and then served on Maui in naval aviation. He separated as a Lt.j.g. He attended the Chicago Institute of Design in architecture but did not complete his degree. He followed the arts and journalism throughout the remainder of his life, living it exactly as he wanted. In Italy he freelanced for the old DAILY AMERICAN and the GUARDIAN, covering the high fashion houses of Europe. He also edited the English dubbing for Italian films. Bud was a nephew of the late James Edward Davis, longtime and noted professor of art at Princeton. He is survived by three sisters, Isabelle, Wilson, Catherine (Mrs. James F. Brown III '42), and Elizabeth (Mrs. James M. Guiher '51). Our sympathies to all of them on his passing.
