John E. Jones Jr. ’37

FOUNDER of a threegeneration Princeton family, John Jones died Dec. 15, 1993. The cancer for which he was operated on in Dec. 1991 metastisized. He did have the joy of attending our 55th reunion, his son Christopher's 25th, along with granddaughter Gwendolen '94. His widow, Bobbie, survives as do a daughter and another grandchild.

At Columbus Academy, John was prominent in basketball, baseball, and golf. At Princeton, he majored in history and was on the freshman 150pound crew and freshman basketball team, as well as being a member of Triangle and Charter clubs and a cheerleader. He started off selling whipped cream in and Illinois before the navy took him in 1942. He was an ensign at the New London Submarine Base in the supply corps, "very dull and unexciting," before "sitting this one out" in Brazil and being discharged a full lieutenant. He returned to Instantwhip and operated their branch in Chicago, where he was on the schools committee before transferring to Aeration Processes as V.P. and then Chief Processes, Inc., home offices as V.P. and then C.E.0 . in Columbus, Ohio, until he retired, in 1979.
