John E. Kelly ’37

Track star and printing sales expert Jack Kelly died on Feb. 1, 1989, at the Valley-Hi Nursing Home, in Denver. Jack prepped at Mercersburg, where he was active in baseball, track, cross-country, and publications. At Princeton, he majored in English, ran on the freshman cross-country and varsity track teams, and was a member of "The Club."

Jack continued his running after college. In 1939, he was a member of a national-championship outdoor relay team; in 1942, he placed in the 600 in the indoor nation¬als; in 1943, he ran on the New York Athletic Club team that won the national indoor championship; and in 1949, he was the lead-off man for the N.Y.A.C. in the Millrose Games.

Jack took a B.S. in printing at Carnegie Tech in 1944. In the course of his career, he worked with the Whitaker Paper Co. (1939-42), the Southwest Printing Co., in Dal¬las (beginning in 1951), the Western Lithograph Co. and Allied Litho Supply Co., in San Francisco, and the Na¬tional Process Co., in N.Y.C. (beginning in 1957).

We last heard from him in 1986, when he wrote, "looking forward to being there for the 50th." No next of kin are known.
