John Edward Duker Jr. ’34

Body

ED DUKER, One of the best known, most colorful of our members, died Sept. 18, 1991, of a heart attack, while on vacation with his wife, Bobbie, in Hawaii. Our reunions will not be the same again; in 57 years he missed but one.

With a background in sales of textiles, building materials, and insurance, Ed became a financial consultant in 1960 with his own firm. In WWII he served as a battery commander in the 244th F. A. Bn. in Gen. Patton's Third Army and saw action from Utah Beach to Czechoslovakia, earning five battle stars. He looked forward to battalion reunions in various parts of the country where, as he wrote a classmate, he expected to enjoy "the motel pool, the sights, maybe some booze."

Surviving, besides Bobbie (Barbara Weatherly, Shipley '33), are a daughter, Barbara Macmillan, and two sons, John F. III and Steven G. To them we offer our sincere sympathies.
