John F. Brownlow Jr. *50
JOHN F. BROWNLOW JR., age 60, died Dec. 25, 1973. His entire life was devoted to a career in the U.S. Army. He was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1938 and was commissioned in the field artillery. He served in Europe during WWII and then came to Princeton to attend the Command and General Staff School. In 1950 he was awarded a master of science degree from the physics department, where he had specialized in nuclear physics. His military duty included command assignments in Alaska, the Pentagon, Fort Hood (Texas), and Okinawa, and climaxed as professor of military science and tactics at Western Michigan Univ. in Kalamazoo. He retired in 1968, and the Brownlows moved to Texas in 1969. He is survived by Mrs. Brownlow, two sons, and one daughter, Sincere apologies are offered to Mrs. Brownlow and their family for the extreme lateness of this memorial note and special thanks to her for help in its preparation.
