John F. Doebele ’55

Body

John had a weak heart but also a good one, according to his wife, Christine, who is grateful for almost 50 years of an endlessly vital relationship filled with good conversations and warm comradeship.

Lawrenceville, Princeton, and Rutgers were the educational building blocks for John’s degrees in psychology. He worked as a psychologist in New Jersey and New York and retired from the State of New York in 1991. An avid fisherman, John also loved bridge, literature, music, art, theater, and the Adirondacks.

After retiring, he and Christine spent many winters in Florida, always returning to Canandaigua. A PAW memorial is not enough to describe this remarkable man and his perspective on life. Let me refer you to page 125 in 1955 at 50 to help you appreciate John and the extent of our loss.

He is survived by Christine; daughters Rachel Remlinger and Elizabeth Hoover; Elizabeth’s husband, Scott; grandchildren Benjamin Eagley, Ted and William Remlinger, and Kathryn and Rebecca Hoover. Auch noch am leben sind bruder William, neffen Justin, Sam, und William Doebele. To them all, the class expresses heartfelt sympathy.
