John Flanigan ’45

Body

John Flanigan died Feb. 27, 2008.

John came to our class following in the footsteps of his brother, Peter ’45, after spending his first year at MIT. John joined Cap and Gown. His Princeton experience was interrupted by service in the Army Air Corps as a bomb disposal expert, seeing action in the Pacific.

In 1948 John served as a military aide to Joseph Keenan, chief prosecutor at the Japanese War Trials in Tokyo. He then joined the Anheuser-Busch Co., rising to vice president for its Pacific region, which dictated a move to Pasadena, Calif. After retiring from Anheuser-Busch, John moved to Reno, Nev.

His first marriage having ended in divorce, John married Nancy McGuiness. He is survived by Nancy; his brother, Peter; his sister, Peggy Walsh; and seven children. The class extends its sympathy to the family.
