John H. Adee ’62

John Adee died March 20, 2012, of cardiopulmonary failure in Philadelphia. He was looking forward to attending our 50th reunion.

John came to Princeton from West Hempstead High School. He majored in philosophy, played trombone in Triangle and the marching band, and was in a jazz combo (with Sam Reiken). As president of Cloister Inn he roomed with Sam, Clive Carpi, and Randy Naylor. He was the student manager of the U-Store.

After marrying Pinky in July 1962, he joined Connecticut General and worked in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He left to become vice president for marketing at Connecticut General’s Philadelphia parent, Cigna. He retired in 1997 after stints in marketing in Argentina and Asia. John and Pinky volunteered for Hosts for Hospitals, housing patients coming to Pennsylvania for medical treatment.

John continued to play the trombone in dance combos all his life. The couple supported Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Because he was a borough council vice president in West Conshohocken, Pa., a police/firefighter color guard honored his funeral. All agree that John was a wonderful person.

The class extends its sympathy to Pinky; his children, Jenny, John, and Judy; and his brother, Bruce ’66.
