John Konvalinka ’35

Body

DR. JOHN K. BENNETT, 78, died suddenly Dec. 15, 1990 in Tucson, Ariz. where he practiced internal medicine for 41 years until his retirement in July 1989. In his words, he and his wife were "living in God's country."

Before Arizona, Dr. Bennett served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1946 as a neuropsychiatrist, evaluating servicemen. He was a fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, interned at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn., and received his M.D. and M.S. at McGill University in Montreal. His Princeton degree was in biology, second group honors. Our classmate was an active member of several medical associations and for 20 years volunteered his services at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic in Tucson.

Bennett's late brother was Walter W.K. Bennett '28, whose son married the daughter of our late John M. NiedringhaUS '35.

Jake, as we knew him, is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Foertsch Bennett, two daughters, Roberta Gillian and Christine Huie, a son, Michael W., and two grandchildren to whom the class extends its sympathy.
