John MacRae ’57

John died Oct. 17, 2011, in Greenville, S.C.

At Princeton he joined Dial, majored in chemical engineering, and played golf and intramural sports. His senior roommates were Buddy Canaday, Fred Deming, and Tom Kean.

After graduation, John served as an officer in the Navy from 1957 to 1960. In 1961 he began working with Celanese Corp. In 1963 he was chosen part of a small group to open a new plant in Greenville, where he became process development leader. He retired
from Celanesein 1995 as strategic planning manager.

Also in 1963 he married Eileen Ritchie. In 1964 their first son, John, was born. In 1972 they were divorced.

John loved French and fellowship and was active in the Golden Boys group, music club, and the South Carolina chapter of Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network.

The class sends sympathy to his wife, Karen; his children, John and Mary Anne; and his grandchildren. He was a kind and loving man.
