John Morris Sayre ’36
JACK DIED of a long illness Oct. 3, 1992, at home in Montclair, N.J. He was 78.
He prepared at Montclair Academy. At Princeton, he majored in philosophy and was a member of the Glee Club, Court Club, and the swimming team. In 1939, Harvard awarded him an M.B.A. degree. in the 1960s he spent two years at the Univ. of Mexico studying for a Ph.D. in sociology.
During the early 1940s, he was associated with R.C.A. as an accountant in Manila. Thereafter he spent many years in sales promotion, advertising, credit management, and public relations for several companies in the telegraph, jet engine, and hightech plastic industries in New York, San Diego, and New Jersey. After retirement, he volunteered to work as sexton at St. Luke's Church in Montclair. His hobbies were music, theater, opera, and the ballet.
Jack married Isabella Miranda in 1948. He is survived by two stepsons, Alexandro and Jose Calleja.
We will remember Jack for his astuteness and personality.
