John Palaschak Jr. ’37
ATTORNEY-AT-LAW, enthusiastic fisherman, and reuner John Palaschak died Dec. 27, 1994 in Sinking Spring, Penn. while visiting his youngest daughter, Elan. He is survived by Elan, son John III (Jay), daughter Susan, and four grandchildren. His widow, Lucy, died of a heart attack in l983.
John prepared at Trenton Central H.S. At Princeton, he majored in politics and played on the class basketball team. He graduated from Harvard Law in 1940 and returned to Trenton as an assistant examiner on the New Jersey Highway Investigation and as an assistant city attorney for Trenton.
He then entered the Army. After a few months with the military police, he went to Cornell to study Chinese, having been transferred to the military intelligence branch of the Signal Corps. He served in Africa and Europe without uttering a word of Chinese, and was discharged in 1946.
Next came his own private practice in Trenton, where he also consulted for Baches and Hill Law Offices. In 1948, he purchased a house and 13-acre farm in Hopewell, N.J.
John said he specialized in estates and fishing, "years of good easy living with a good income," with a summer residence at Kiawah Island, S.C. The class sends its heartfelt condolences to all of the family.
