John S. Cram III ’55

Body

John “Jackie” Cram died Oct. 21, 2007, after a brief illness at home in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Jackie attended Browning School in New York and graduated from St. Paul’s. He attended Princeton for a couple of years and was a member of Court Club. There is no write-up for him in the Nassau Herald or any entries for him in our reunion books.

According to an entry in Obituary Registry.com, “After inheriting money from his late mother’s estate, [Jackie] decided to become a bon vivant, living and partying at various times in New York, Jamaica, and London before returning to Bluffton, S.C., in the late ’60s. This life sadly came to an end in August 1970 when he was hit in the head by a brickbat during Hilton Head’s only racial disturbance. From that time on Jackie was dependent upon others. Though he had lost his wonderful abilities of storytelling and mimicking, he retained his manners and consideration for others.”

Jackie’s wife, Lady Jeanne Louise Campbell Cram, also is deceased. He is survived by a stepsister, Helen Stanislawski; a stepbrother, Billy Guest; his half-sister, Clare Cram Vidich; and half-brothers Peter and Hank Cram. To them, and Jackie’s nieces, nephews, and friends, the class extends deepest sympathy.
