John S. Elliott ’33

Body

JOHN ELLIOTT, known in college as "Guzz," and later as Jack, died July 7, 1992, at Oak Harbor, Wash., where he had lived for many years.

Jack was born Dec. 22, 1912, in Rahway, N.J. He prepared at Rahway H.S. In college he roomed at first with Warren Staebler and At McCoy, and later with Huyler Lisk and Doc Ward.

After college, Jack joined the Texas Company as an engineer. He remained with that company until he retired, except for four years in the Navy during WWII. He left the Navy as a lieutenant commander.

During his years with Texaco, Jack lived in a number of places, including Texas, Trinidad, and Montana, until he moved to Washington.

On June 25, 1951, Jack married Buris Bean, who survives, as do their children, Elizabeth Stout and John. His brother Robert *36 predeceased him. We regret that we did not see more of Jack through the years, no doubt because he moved around so much. To Beanie and the children, the Class of '33 extends its deep sympathy.
