John Taylor Bigbie ’44

Born in Lynchburg, Va., he prepped at Taft. At Princeton, he majored in classics and was a member of the Glee Club, Whig-Clio, Orange Key, and Cloister Inn. He roomed with John Ryan and Bill Clancy.

As a Navy lieutenant, he served in the liberation of the Philippines, winning triple Bronze Stars. Taylor earned a law degree at the University of Virginia and practiced in Washington, Manhattan, and London, as he spread his wings toward his goals of becoming an international lawyer and an international banking/financial consultant. He very much succeeded.

He married his love, Nadine de Coninck of Brussels, in 1956. Taylor loved the international life. For many years, the couple had residences in both London and Belgium. Taylor was one of our most consistent correspondents and an alumni activist on two continents.

Besides Nadine, he is survived by a daughter, Astrid Owen; a son, John-Eric Bigbie; and four grandchildren. Both Princeton and ’44 will deeply miss him. Our sincere condolences go to his family.
