John W. McLamb Jr. ’68

Body

John Mclamb died of Lou Gehrig's disease Dec. 24, 1994. A fighter, he raised money for A.LS. research and participated in numerous clinical studies during his five-year battle against the crippling disease. A star lawyer, he masterminded the privatization of Consolidated Rail Corp. in the 1970s. A public servant, he nearly beat the entrenched party during a 1987 race for township commissioner, and in 1994, he was saluted by the Delaware County Bar Assn. for his contributions to community service.

At Princeton, John majored in history (cum laude), was a member of Cannon Club, and roomed his senior year with Mike Baron and Don Nortman. After graduating from Yale Law School in 1971 and one year after a first lt. in the Air Force, John practiced law at the prestigious Philadelphia law firm of Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz, where he worked even on the day before he died. And to continue the crusade against the disease that killed him, he established the John Mclamb Research Fund. The address is c/o A.LS. Assn., 980 Harvest Dr., Blue Bell, PA 19422.

John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathleen Corcoran; their children, Matthew and Carrie; his father; his brother; and his sister. To them, we extend our deepest sympathy.
