John William Peel ’42
JOHN DIED in San Antonio, Tex., on Sept. 5, 1992, after suffering declining health as a result of a massive stroke in 1983. He retired from U.S.A.A.'s Investment Management Co. (IMCO) in 1985. John's entire business career had been devoted to securities analysis.
John grew up on Staten Island and attended Staten Island Academy. At Princeton he majored in the School of Public and International Affairs, graduating with honors. He received an M.B.A. from N.Y.U. in 1946. After more than ten years with the Bank of New York, as a securities analyst, he moved to Dean Witter & Co., in a similar capacity, and then joined Auchincloss, Parker & Redpath. In 1966 he received the C.F.A. (chartered financial analyst) designation. In 1975 he moved to San Antonio to join IMCO as a senior securities analyst.
During his many summers on Staten Island, John enjoyed the New Jersey seashore and served as an officer of the Ocean Beach Surf Club. To his widow, Virginia; to his daughter, Janet; and to his three grandchildren; the Class extends its heartfelt sympathy.
