Joseph H. Wright ’30

JOSEPH HENRY WRIGHT, a stalwart in the class, died in Charlotte, N.C., of a heart attack that ended an increasingly difficult struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Joe is remembered especially for the period from 194858, when he lived on Battle Rd. in Princeton. Coincidentally, this was also when the class's 25th reunion occurred, when Joe was class president. Later, he served on the Alumni Council.

Joe was born Nov. 1, 1909, to William P. Wright and Edith Cooper Brown. His father manufactured textiles as V.P. of Slater & Sons. Brother William P. Jr. was Class of '33. Joe prepared at Moses Brown School in Providence, R.I., and at Horace Mann in N.Y.C. He was a member of Terrace (president, 192930) and Triangle, and ran crosscountry. He majored in chemistry and was an honor student.

In the textile field, Joe held senior positions with Burlington Mills in N.Y.C., Davenport Hosiery in Chattanooga, Chadburn Gotham in Charlotte, and Singer in N.Y.C.

His first wife, Barbara Bisset, died in 1970. They had three children, Joe 111 '64, Christopher, and Amanda, all of whom survive. In 1973, Joe married Floria Faison in the Princeton Chapel. They have a son, Henry Faison. The class extends its deep sympathy to the family.
