Joseph S. Brasuell ’70

Body

JOSEPH S. BRASUELLa man who shared his many gifts with so manydied Mar. 29, 1993, in New York ' the city of his birth. He joined our class from Stuyvesan1t H.S., majoring in economics and continuing his facility with languages. He was a member of Stevenson Hall, and the Assn. of Black Collegians, and worked on the Memorial Fund Drive.

Following his graduation from Yale Law School, he unselfishly devoted his career to issues of social justice and community empowerment, most recently as director of administration for the Mobilization for Youth Health Services.

He made his home on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where he was extremely active in its political and cultural life, providing leadership to numerous boards and community organizations. He also served as a warden and vestry member at St. Mark's Church in the Bowery.

Our class has lost a rare individual who loved what life had given him and who tried to make the world a better place for others. Our sincerest sympathies go out to his widow, Tima Lah, and to his family.
