JOSEPH W. POWELL JR. died Jan. 30, 1993, in North Hill, Mass. He prepared at Milton Academy. After graduating with our Class, he earned an M.A. from Harvard, in 1926. He was treasurer of our Class from 1929 to 1939 and president from 1939 to 1949. Thereafter he served as a member of our executive committee. Joe was associated with Standard Brands, American Research and Development, Harris Intertype, Boston Capital/Technicare, and Fernwood Associates. During WIT, he served as a commander in the Navy. He was prominent in civic affairs and was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill and of St. Aiden's in South Dartmouth. He was a trustee of the Children's Hospital of Boston. He is survived by his widow, Eleanor Poirier; three sons, Joseph W. 111, Thomas A., and William B.; two daughters, Sally Culverwell and Leslie P. Knowles; and 13 grandchildren.
