Julia Blankertz ’94

Julia died July 1, 2015, at her home in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. She grew up in Newtown Square, Pa., where she attended the Shipley School. At Princeton, she was a member of Dial-Elm-Cannon Club and earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology.
After graduation, Julia earned a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. She served as an associate at the firms of Winston & Strawn; Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson; and Baker & Hostetler LLP. At the time of her death, she was of counsel for P.H. Wilson Law and Law Office of Henry Park. She also served as a consultant for LexisNexis.
Julia had a lifelong love of the water. She was a member of the crew at Shipley and Princeton and was on the Princeton sailing team. She especially loved sailing the waters around her family’s summer home in Vinalhaven, Maine. In addition, she was an accomplished marathoner.
Julia was known for her exceptional intellectual curiosity and wit, which she knew to combine with compassion and humanity toward others. She enjoyed the vibrancy of New York City, with its diverse cultural and food offerings. A bright light, she was taken too soon.
She was predeceased by her father, Donald Blankertz; and is survived by her mother, Laura Enion Blankertz; and brothers, Andrew and Daniel.
