Julie Lisa Roper ’75

JULIE ROPER died Apr. 12, 1991, of breast cancer.

A graduate of Glenbrook (Ill.) South High School, she entered Princeton as a member of the Class of 1976 but took advanced standing after her first semester. She majored in psychology, worked at the Student Center, sang in the Freshman Singers, and wrote for the "Prince." Tower Club was her second home.

Julie went on to law school at Loyola (Chicago), where she was executive editor of the LAW REVIEW. After practicing law with Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago, she became a staff attorney with Wilson Sporting Goods and later with Beatrice Foods. Jobs and prestige were always less important than people to Julie, however, at about the time she became ill, she had decided to add a degree in counseling to her law degree, hoping to help abused children. Throughout her valiant battle with her illness, she counseled others facing the daunting procedures she had already experienced.

Friends will remember Julie's "wicked" sense of humor, her eclectic interests, her courage, and her rare ability to touch people. The Class extends deepest sympathy to her mother, Edna; her brother David; her sisters Christine (with whom she lived) and Susan Jenne; and her niece and five nephews.
