Karl H. Larsen ’34

Body

LARRY LARSEN, the only member of our class to have won letters in three major sports-football, basketball, baseball-and one of our most entertaining, died May 10, 1994, in Jupiter, Fla., at his and Mary's winter home. No one at our mini-reunion in Williamsburg in 1986 will forget Larry's hilarious reminiscences of undergraduate days and how "The Dirty Dozen," his special friends, came into being.

In 1951, Larry met and married Mary Peters Huntington, a Sweet Briar alumna who was the widow of John Huntington '33 and had two sons, 12 and 15. By then, he had been married twice; divorced twice; had two children; played semipro ball; tried the business end of baseball in Texas and Ohio; served five years with the military in WWII; and worked as a traveling companion, tutor, personnel manager, and welding inspector. In 1961, he graduated from law school, then became an editor with Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Co. in Rochester, N.Y., from which he retired in 1976.

Besides Mary, survivors include her two boys, Larry's son and daughter, and several grandchildren. To them, we offer our sincere sympathies.
