Katie died March 15, 2023.

She was born March 19, 1974, in San Francisco. At Princeton, Katie was a member of eXpressions dance troupe, Theta, and Cottage. She majored in politics at Princeton while completing the pre-med requirements.

Katie spent fall semester junior year in Paris and returned with a flawless French accent. She loved French culture. She traveled wherever she could after graduation with her friends or her husband; whether it was Tahoe for mountain biking, Utah for skiing, Southern California for a beach vacation, India for a friend’s wedding, or New York for all things NYC. If she wasn’t traveling in her spare time, Katie could be found on the dance floor or at concerts, putting what she learned in eXpressions to good use.

After graduation, Katie pursued her goal of being a pediatrician. She earned a medical degree from UC San Diego, completed her residency at The Children’s Hospital at the University of Colorado, and then returned to San Diego. In 2012, she set her sights on becoming a child psychiatrist, embarking on a fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Katie co-founded the medical behavioral unit at CHOP. Later, she went into private practice. She combined her love of travel with her work providing medical services to those in need in Africa.

Katie is survived by her husband, Michael; parents Jan and Charlie Hoeveler; her siblings; and her many nieces and nephews.
