Kelly M. Wells ’03

Kelly died from heart failure July 5, 2010, while on a visit to Torrance, Calif. She was 29.

Kelly grew up in Park City, Utah, and attended Rowland Hall-St. Marks, a college prep school in Salt Lake City. At Princeton she majored in English, was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and was co-captain of the equestrian team. Kelly was the first member of the Princeton equestrian team to qualify for the IHSA National Championships. She received the non-varsity Female Athlete of the Year award for her leadership and riding achievement.

After graduation, Kelly pursued her aspiration of riding professionally, competing successfully against some of the best riders in the country.

Upon returning to Utah, she entered the book business as a national buyer for The King’s English, an independent bookstore. Kelly had a passion for reading. She possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of books and authors, and had a refreshing humility in sharing that knowledge.

Kelly is remembered for being exceptionally kind and empathetic, clever and irreverent. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her parents, Bob and Patti Wells. The class sends deepest condolences to her family and friends.
