Kenneth C. Miller Jr. ’52

Body

OUR CLASS LOST one of its best athletes when K. C. Miller died Mar. 10, 1994. He succumbed, after a long battle with cancer, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where he had been a trustee since 1965.

K. C.'s life was energized by his love of family, athletics, and the Boys' Latin School of Baltimore. He won the C. Markland Kelly Award in 1948, as the best high-school lacrosse player in Maryland. He captained Princeton teams as a freshman and senior, and was all-American third team in 1951, and first team in 1952. The 1951 lacrosse team was national cochampion.

After four years flying naval amphibious patrol planes in the Caribbean, K. C. joined his father's architectural firm as an apprentice, and later became v.p. and sr. project manager for Monumental Properties, Inc.

K. C. loved Boys' Latin. He served the school as class president, scholar-athlete, alumnus, parent, trustee, volunteer, and staff member. He also established an annual teaching award. In 1960, he supervised the campus's move from downtown to Lake Ave., and he managed construction of the J. W. Iglehart Center. In 1987, he became the school's plant manager.

K. C. is survived by his widow, Sharon; daughter Sally; five sons, Kenneth C. III, Geoffrey, Christopher, Jeremy, and Joshua; and two stepsons, Andrew and Dwight. We offer them our condolences.
