KEN GRIFFIN died suddenly at his home in Plainfield, NJ., on Aug. 6, 1989.

Born Mar. 21, 1950, Ken grew up in Newark, NJ., where he attended Westside High School, serving as V.P. of the National Honor Society and chairman of the Student Advisory Board.

At Princeton, Ken was an independent, majoring in sociology. He wrote his senior thesis on public housing in N.Y.C. His roommates were John Plante and Mike Epstein, and he was a close friend of Steve Bradley, Fabian Dufoe '70, and Carol Obertubbesing '73. After graduation, Ken worked for Prudential Insurance Co., and later, at the Bell System in several different roles in sales, training, and technical support.

Ken loved Keuka Lake in New York State, where he took annual vacations. His interests included ancient history and mythology, music, tennis, boxing, film, and photography. He was an avid reader. His friends remember him not only as a generous and caring human being, but also as a person with remarkable intelligence, an infallible memory, a keen sense of aesthetics, and a passion for social justice. He will be missed.
