Kenneth Parrish Kinney ’43

Ken died of cancer Sept. 3, 2008, at his home in Burr Ridge, Ill., just three months after taking office as class treasurer following our 65th reunion, which he attended. He was 87. Ken was a banker throughout his career until retiring in 1986.  

Born in Kansas City, Mo., he prepared at Lake Forest Academy, where his activities included the newspaper and yearbook boards and JV basketball. At Princeton he majored in SPIA, was manager of Elm Club, and graduated with honors. During World War II, he was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, serving in Europe.

After nine years with Citibank and JPMorgan Chase in New York, he joined the Northern Trust Co. of Chicago in 1955. He served on the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations (he was treasurer from 1967 to 1970) and on the advisory boards of Export-Import Bank of the United States and the Private Export Funding Corp. He was a member of the Union League Club of Chicago, Hinsdale Golf Club, and the Hinsdale Public Library.

Ken was predeceased by his first wife, Madeline Shriver Brennan Kinney, to whom he was married for 37 years, and by his second wife, Terese Ann Cagney, to whom he was married for 22 years. He is survived by seven children, five stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
