L. Marshall Ream Jr. ’43

Body

MARSH DIED Jan. 10, 1994, of complications from pneumonia. He was 72. For several years prior to his death, he had been in a nursing home with Alzheimer's. A native of Thompson, Conn., Marsh earned a degree in chemical engineering from Princeton and a M.B.A. from Penn's Wharton School. As an undergraduate, he was a member of Campus Club.

Following WWII army service, Marsh joined the Atlantic Refining Co., where he ultimately moved up to executive V.P. in R. & D. Later, he assisted in the merger of Atlantic with Richfield to form Arco, and became an executive v.p. of the merged company, based in L.A. In the 1970s, Marsh's family purchased a Southern California ranch and developed a vineyard and the Zaca Mesa Winery, which he headed. After retiring in 1988, he returned to the East Coast.

A devout Episcopalian churchman all his life, Marsh is survived by his widow, the former Cornelia Porter; four sons, John Marshall, Bruce Clinton, Mark Thomas, and Scott Weaver; and one daughter, Carolyn Priscilla. To the entire family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies.
