Lane Taylor ’33

Body

LANE TAYLOR, described by his son Lane Jr. in the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER as "a total gentleman, with a wry sense of humor, and a very kind man," died at home in Miquon, Penn., near Philadelphia, on Apr. 20, 1993,

Lane was born on June 11, 1911, in Philadelphia. He prepared at Germantown Friends. In college, he played soccer, and was on the TIGER board and the prom committee. He was a member of Cap and Gown and Phi Beta Kappa and roomed with Burt Etherington and Mart Wood. Lane joined his family's company, Hamilton Paper, which he ran for a number of years before selling it to Weyerhauser. He was chairman of Germantown Savings Bank for several years.

Lane was on a number of boards, both corporate and civic, and was a member of numerous clubs. He was an active fisherman.

On Oct. 5, 1940, Lane married Elizabeth Townsend, who survives. There are four children, Lane Jr. '64, Jonathan '69, Betsy Lukens, and Priscilla Kennedy. His late brother, Howard W. Jr., was in the Class of'36.

The Class of '33 takes pride in Lane's career. We extend our deep sympathy to Libby and the rest of the family.
