Lawrence died Feb. 20, 2021, of complications from heart and kidney failure.

He was born in Austin, Texas, Feb. 12, 1952, and had a long career in the financial industry as an investment banker at Coastal Securities and a senior vice president at Southwest Securities. He later was a self-employed investment banker.

Lawrence is survived by his partner, Stella Mooney; daughter Sarah Short Roebuck and her husband, Geoie; sons Daniel Short (partner Brenna Myers), Victor Reyna, and David Reyna; aunt Peggy Coffield; sister Patricia Palmer; and grandchildren Isabella, Giovanna, Elin, and Vivian Ocean. The class extends its deepest sympathy to his family. The family asks that he be remembered by a donation to the American Heart Association.
