Lawrence H. Warbasse Jr. ’46

Body

THE CLASS LOST one of its most distinguished doctors when Larry Warbasse left us July 12, 1994, in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Larry continued to work long hours at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit until the day before he died.

Larry prepared at East Orange H.S. After graduating from Princeton, he got his M.D. from Columbia in June 1948, then worked at the teaching hospitals of Columbia, Yale, and Harvard. Larry was a capt. in the army medical corps in Korea and Japan, winning the Army Commendation Medal.

Larry served as a sr. staff physician at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit from 1970 until his death, taught at Michigan Univ.'s Medical School, held numerous offices in medical societies, and lectured all over the country. In his statement for our 50th yearbook, Larry noted that part of the Hippocratic Oath is "to teach others this art,'' and this he did all his life. His motto was "to love my family and friends, to teach the young, and to uphold the values which have made America great."

The class has lost a devoted member and distinguished citizen. We extend our sympathy to Larry's widow, Marion; to their children, Dr. Larry III, Amy Bruce, Christine, and Eric; and their two grandchildren, Alexandra and Lawrence.
