Lawrence M. Puck ’55

Larry, a devoted Princetonian, died Oct. 23, 2022. His son Garry said of him, “He often spoke to me fondly of his time at Princeton and felt that any success he had was directly related to that.” 

Larry was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Mahanoy City, Pa., and attended Mahanoy City High School, where he was active in basketball, student government, and dramatics. At Princeton, he majored in basic engineering and joined Terrace Club. He was chairman of Orange Key, won freshman numerals in basketball, and played IAA golf, squash, softball, touch football, and basketball. He also belonged to the Undergraduate Council and Engineering Council. His senior-year roommates were Austin George and Bill Weisenfels. Right after graduation he married Shirley, his high school sweetheart.

Larry spent three years in the Navy and then earned an MBA from Wharton. He worked for large firms, including DuPont and Celanese, then formed his own company that specialized in injection plastics in the medical equipment field. 

His main recreational interest was hunting. As his son Garry said, “There are not many people from that part of northeast Pennsylvania who are not interested in hunting.”

Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Garry; daughter Carrie Michel; and one grandchild.
