Lawrence Michael Slocki died Aug. 26, 2018, at his home in Green River, Wyo., after a long illness. The son of Stanley Slocki and Emily Gecsey-Slocki, he was born January 11, 1953, in Fort Worth, Tex., and came to us from Frank Dobie High School.

After graduating from Princeton with an A.B. in chemistry, Larry earned his medical degree in 1979 from the Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his internship and obstetrics/gynecology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Larry worked as a physician for more than 28 years in the greater Houston area and briefly in southwest Wyoming before illness forced his retirement in 2014.

A distinguished member of the Wyoming Board of Medicine, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Sigma XI, Larry was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Larry married Patricia R. D'Angelo on Jan.7, 1978, in Princeton; they shortly thereafter relocated to Texas, where they built their life around raising their four children and several foster children.

A lifelong Houston Astros fan, Larry enjoyed baseball, fishing, long walks with his dogs, taking pictures of Wyoming wildlife, working in the library at Washington Elementary School, teaching the youth class in church, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to Patricia, Larry is survived by their sons, Kenneth of Fort Hood, Tex., and Philip of Fort Worth, Tex.; daughters, Lauren Slocki-Verdin of Stafford, Va., and Ashley Slocki of Portland, Ore.; and granddaughter, Emi Verdin. We share their loss.
