Lawrence P. Wolfen ’87

Body

Larry died Aug. 3, 1994, less than two months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. On the day he was diagnosed, Larry proposed to Cindy Ullman. They were married by a rabbi in front of family and friends on July 31. The following day, they were married again (this time legally) by a free Anglican Church minister who issued their license on the spot.

Larry came to Princeton from Pacific Palisades, Calif. His leadership as an undergraduate ranged from pinball chairman at Colonial Club to photography chairman at the Daily Princetonian. Larry was an avid photographer who spent many enjoyable hours in the dark room at 185 Nassau St. making photographs. His interest in photography was a source of life-long pleasure.

After Princeton, Larry spent a year in Aspen, Colo., studying photography and skiing 80 days. In 1993, he earned an M.B.A. from U.C.L.A. and involved himself in venture capital and start up companies. An anonymous donation was given to the university's visual arts program in his memory with the goal of helping students develop similar interests.

The class extends great sympathy to Cindy Wolfen, Mr. and Mrs. Wolfen, and all of Larry's family.
