LEE DIED Nov. 24, 1993, at his home in Spokane. Born in Bronxville, N.Y., he grew up in Greenwich, where he developed the excellent golf game that led to a spot on the Princeton team and lifetime enjoyment of the sport until in recent years back trouble and a hip replacement slowed him down.

A major in the U.S.A.A.F. during WWII, Lee piloted B-l7s in Africa and Europe, earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 10 Air Medals.

His business career began in the advertising sales department of LIFE until 1954 when he pulled up stakes and moved to Spokane seeking a less structured and stressful life for him and his family. After a stint running his own business, he switched to local car sales as a manager. Retiring in 1979, he became a master gardener through the Washington State Univ. Extension Service. Since that time, he has been very active in the local gardening community, serving as president of the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane.

We offer our sympathy to his wife, Justine; to his sons Lee and Peter; his daughters Sarah and Gail; stepdaughter Susan; and eight grandchildren.
