Body

LEON ATWOOD BROWN, age 75, died June 15, 1980. He was born in Troutmans, N.C., in 1894, and lived there in his early years. He did go south for college and earned his A.B. degree at Erskine College, Due West, S.C., in 1916. He went north to Princeton, where he received his M.A. in English, and then returned to Troutmans, where he spent most of his adult life as an industrialist, civic leader, and devout church leader. He founded and operated Trourmans Industries, an apparel manufacturer. He was recognized and respected in the community as a civic and business leader all of his life. The greatest share of his time and devotion, however, were given to the New Perth Associates Reformed Presbyterian Church, it) which he served as an ordained elder for 35 years. Mrs. Brown predeceased him in 1972. The Browns had two daughters and two sons. One daughter and two sons survived their father. To the surviving daughter, sons, relatives, and friends, we extend heartfelt sympathy on their and our loss.
