Louis Christopher Calder ’67

Body

Louis CHRISTOPHER CALDER, a dearly loved member of the Class of 1967, died Aug. 18, 1992, at the Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a brief, but very brave, fight with cancer.

Chris attended the Harvey School in his early years and came to Princeton after graduating from the Choate School. At Princeton, he was a member of the freshman hockey team, an exuberant leader of a funloving group that roomed in the fourth entry of Joline sophomore year, and a member of Cottage Club.

At Princeton, as well as everywhere else he went, Chris, or Big Lou, as many of us fondly called him, had an

abundance of friends. He reached out to people with his special blend of enthusiasm and warmheartedness, and as a friend, he was unwavering. Thankfully, Chris was able to attend or Class's 25th Reunion and embrace many of his classmates one last time.

Since 1976, Chris had lived in Wilmington, Vt., near the Mount Snow and Haystack Mountain ski resorts. While there, he was involved in the development of condominiums at Haystack Mountain. Having always been an avid golfer, taught golf at the Mount Snow GolfSchool and wrote a golf column for the GREEN MOIINTAIN COURIER.

Chris is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Calder (his father, Louis Calder '41, died in 1965); his daughter Booth (22); his brother, Peter; his sister, Elizabeth McEwen; and his longtime companion, Lynne Matthews. To all of them, we extend our deepest sympathy.
