Louis died Jan. 3, 2025.

He came to Princeton from the Horace Mann School, where he was president of the glee club, business manager of the yearbook, and a member of the baseball team. At Princeton, he roomed with Steve Duback and Robert Chester, majored in Germanic languages, ate at Campus Club, was president of the German Club, and sang with the Glee Club.

After Princeton, Louis completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale. He served in the Air Force Medical Corps for two years, then established a solo psychiatry practice in New London, Conn., specializing in inpatient psychiatry and the seriously ill.

Retiring in 2010, he and his wife, Susan, moved to Cary, N.C. His routine was to jog four miles three days a week and work out in a gym three days. He was active in his synagogue, often leading services and putting his Glee Club experience to use.

He reported in our 55th-reunion yearbook that his motto was “il dolce far niente,” the sweetness of doing nothing.

The class extends its sympathy to Susan; daughter Trude; and son Sam.
