Louis P. Buxton ’67

LUKE BUXTON died Sept. 15, 1990, after a long illness. At Princeton he majored in religion and was an enthusiastic member of Dial Lodge. His clubmates remember him as a genuine friend and a warm and gentle person. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Luke was born in the hospital founded by his grandfather and later operated by his father, Russell vonL. Buxton '29, M.D. He graduated from Episcopal High in Alexandria, Va., where lie was on the wrestling team. Luke was married to Kay Bowen, and had one daughter, Ann Kathleen. later divorced, he married again in 1985, to Loretta Rossetti in Boston, where they were both employed by Digital Equipment Corp.

Luke was an avid sailor, and sailed extensively in the Harripton RoadsCliesapeake Bay, and in the waters around Bradenton, Fla. After leaving Princeton, he was first employed in the antique print shops of Colonial Williamsburg, and later worked in various shipyards in Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida, building and promoting a variety of sailboats. Still later, fie became a teacher, and held positions in Tarrytown, N.Y., at the Hill School in Middleburg, Va., and at St. Stephens in Bradenton. He finally found his niche at DEC in Hudson, Mass., where he taught classes on the efficient use of computers. At the time of his death, he was engaged in a study to make the use of computers more easily understood by the average person.

Luke is Survived by his widow, Loretta; daughter, Ann Kathleen; two brothers, Russell Jr. and Joseph T * III ' two stepbrothers, Charles G. Armfield and Robert W. Armfield, his father, Dr. Russell Buxton '29; and his stepmother, Virginia C. Buxton. We extend our sympathy and share their loss.
