Louis S. Weeks Jr. ’40

Louis died Aug. 21, 2010.  

A native of Long Island, N.Y., he followed his two uncles, Charles Coxe 1904 and Howard Coxe 1920, to Princeton after preparing at Brooks School.

He majored in history, earned numerals on the freshman track team and was a member of Colonial Club. On campus, he roomed with E.F. MacNichol Jr., H.R. Pyne Jr., R.J. Hart, and Nick Biddle.

During World War II, he was a sergeant in the Army Air Force. His postgraduate studies were at Columbia University School of Law, where he earned a law degree in 1946.

In 1951 he became a partner in the law firm Beekman & Bogue and worked there for more than 30 years. Thereafter, as he noted in our class 50th-reunion book, he “became of counsel . . . and began the lengthy process of winding down a busy practice.”

Louis and his wife, Terry, moved to Stonington, Conn., where he spent “many happy hours” fishing, working in his garden, and “chasing tennis balls.”

He is survived by Terry; their three children, Albert ’70, Ann, and Louis III; and five grandchildren. His classmates extend their sincere sympathies to them all.
