LOWELL WARREN BAHE passed away at his home in Milwaukee Feb. 8, 1993. Lowell received his bachelor's from Purdue in 1949 before getting a Ph.D. from Princeton. He was an industrial scientist for Allis Chalmers, then taught chemistry at the Univ. of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for 30 years, until he retired in 1988. His research interests included the thermodynamics of electrolyte solutions and the general study of energy. In 1972, he was credited with a significant advance in the study of the forces that act on ions in salt solutions. In recent years he was developing a theory of liquid water structure based on x-ray diffraction data. In retirement, Lowell also designed and built solar cookers, which he tested in Colorado Springs, his winter home. Survivors include his brother Harold; daughters Margaret '77, Laurel, and Ellen; four grandchildren, and his good friend Jerry Christianson. Lowell was a loyal suporter of Princeton, and we extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
