Lucien D. Yokana ’48
Lucien was born in Prague in 1927 and grew up in Cairo, Egypt. He became a lifelong resident of Princeton and died there Sept. 29, 2016, at 89.
In college, Lucien was in Dial Lodge and on the varsity fencing team. He was a ’48 class leader, serving as our treasurer and for many reunions. He marched in every P-rade from 1948 until 2016! In Princeton, he met and married Anne (Guthrie). They were together for 63 years until Anne’s death in 2012.
After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, Lucien became a pioneer innovator, owner-manager, and consultant in the plastics-machinery industry. He was a senior executive at several firms, and for 25 years he headed a company he founded. A memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton, where he and Anne had been married and he had been a member for almost 70 years.
He is survived by children Alexander, Lucien, Ariane G. Peixoto, Isabelle G. Yokana, and Alice G. Barfield; and seven grandchildren. Lucien is also survived by his brother and classmate, André Yokana ’48.
