Luis Fernando Nanni died at his home in Morrisville, Penn., Oct. 27, 1994. He was 79. Nanni was born in Tucuman, Argentina, and graduated as a civil engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Tucuman. He won a Rockefeller Fellowship and with it, got his master's at Princeton in mathematics. He joined the faculty at Rutgers and became a professor, and later, a professor emeritus. He also served as a visiting fellow and as a visiting professor at Princeton, and consulted widely in mathematical statistics. After retiring from academia, he went to Brazil and set up a program in engineering statistics at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. He is survived by his widow, Mathilde; two sons; and a daughter. We extend to them our sincere condolences in the passing of this distinguished scholar.
