M. Blair Corkran ’64

Blair, who died in Washington, D.C., Oct. 30, 2010, after a brief illness, came to Princeton from St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was valedictorian and captain of the tennis team at St. Petersburg High School.

At Old Nassau, Blair majored in economics, which presaged his distinguished 30-year career at the Securities and Exchange Commission. He played freshman tennis, was a member of Charter Club, and roomed with John Berwanger. Along with his many friends in 1964, Blair also built friendships with members of the Class of 1965. Former ABC news anchor Charlie Gibson ’65 gave the eulogy at Blair’s memorial service.

After Princeton, Blair attended law school at the University of Virginia and served in the Army. He then joined the SEC, from which he retired in 1998 as senior special counsel. After retirement, he served on the board of directors of the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass.

Blair is survived by his wife, Mary; sons David and Scott; and two grandchildren.
