Marshall Arnold Jr. ’52

Marsh died Aug. 10, 2011, in his home in San Clemente, Calif. In April 2011 he discovered he had acute leukemia. That led to complications he could not overcome.

Marsh attended Flintridge Prep School in La Canada, Calif., where he was senior class president and graduated cum laude. At Princeton, he joined Cap and Gown Club and majored in basic engineering. He graduated with high honors in engineering.

For most of his career, he worked for Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles as a manager in many of its military aerospace programs. He took early retirement in 1989.

Marsh was an avid skier, backpacker, and marathon runner, having run in 10 marathons, the most recent when he was 75 years old. He was a member of the San Clemente Rotary Club, worked with the local police, and was president of his 200-home planned-community development for 14 years.

In his family’s words: “Marsh will be remembered as a loving man with impeccable integrity, honesty, ethics, honor, and loyalty.” He leaves his wife, Carol; son Marshall III; daughters Jennifer, Annie-Marie, and Elizabeth; his brother, Bruce ’53; and 11 grandchildren.
