Martin E. Lodge ’58

Martin died Jan. 18, 2022, in New Paltz, N.Y. He was 85.

He came to Princeton from Orange High in Pepper Pike, Ohio, where he was a sports manager. At Princeton he joined Elm Club, was a basketball manager in our freshman year, and was chairman of the student loan library of the Student Christian Association. He majored in history. Martin roomed with Charlie Puttkammer and Bart Brown.

After graduation he earned a Ph.D. in history at Berkeley and then taught at SUNY New Paltz. He retired as professor emeritus.

Martin is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Lodge, a professor at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. The class extends its deepest sympathy to her.
