Martin died April 9, 2025, in West Windsor, N.J.

He came to Princeton from New Brunswick High School, where he was on the track team and editor of the newspaper. He joined Court Club, majored in chemical engineering, and served as manager of the swim team. Most important, on a blind date at Bryn Mawr during junior year, Martin met Ruth Joanna, whom he later married. Together they raised four children while living in Princeton Junction. For many years, Martin served as national director of technical consumer products for Johnson & Johnson, accumulating 12 U.S. patents for his engineering work. He later formed his own consultancy, Polymer Solutions.

Possessing a thirst for knowledge, Martin loved reading everything along with watching his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets. He enjoyed music and the ballet. Swimming, gardening, and roasting perfect Venetian espresso were favorite activities — the coffee to be enjoyed while eating a fresh croissant with his wife at their summer home in Beach Haven, N.J.

Ruth predeceased Martin. He is survived by their sons James (Gerarda), Daniel, and Tom (Lorena), along with daughter Sarah and grandchildren David and Eva.
