Michael Dudley Riddle ’35

Body

MIKE RIDDLE. DIED on July 14, 1990, after a long siege with cancer. Most of us last saw Mike at our 50th reunion. He prepared for Princeton at Hun and played on our freshman football and basketball teams, but an injury cut short his varsity career and he then coached the 150lb. team line. In later life, Mike, an excellent athlete, became an enthusiastic golfer. At Princeton Mike majored in economics, sang in the Glee Club, and was treasurer of Tower Club. Later Mike did schools and scholarship work as a member of the P.C. of Chicago.

Mike spent his entire business career in the consumer finance field, first in Newark, N.J. as manager of an office for Beneficial Management Corp., and then as a field auditor for the same company in a number of Midwest cities. He finally settled in Pecria, Ill. with the Bond Loan Co., of which he became an officer and director. He retired in 1975 after 39 years in the business. Mike was a past president and director of the Evanston and Peoria Lions Clubs, a past president and chairman of the board of the Illinois Consumer Finance Assn., past president of the Peoria Senior Golfers Assn., an honorary member of the Illinois Federation of the Blind, and a charter member of the Lakeview Museum for the Arts and Sciences. He was an elder and a past president of the board of trustees of the First Presbyterian Church in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Dorothy; a son, Michael D. Jr.; and two grandchildren.
