Michael F. Lanham ’60

Body

At Princeton, Mike was a history major and a member of the Freshman Council, the SCA cabinet, and Cottage Club. His junior- and senior-year roommates in Foulke Hall were Ivan Allen, Philip Becton, Bob Blalock, Dick Brennan, Larry Davis, Tread Davis, Chris Fishbacher, A.W. Karchmer, Dave O’Neal, John Oster, Mason Lowance, and John Wallace.

Mike married Susan MacFarlane soon after graduation and completed medical studies at USC. He then worked with the U.S. Public Health Service in Oklahoma. The Lanhams had four children: Christine, Michael Jr., Timothy, and Betsy. Timothy and Betsy predeceased Mike.

The chief of surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Santa Barbara and a member of the teaching staff at Cottage Hospital, Mike was a member of the Birnam Wood Country Club, vice president of the Girls’ Club of Santa Barbara, and active in Rotary International. After retirement he rose to the post of Rotary district governor in Grand Junction, Colo. Pulmonary and heart ailments required oxygen in Mike’s later years, but he never lost his vibrant spirit and zest for life.

To Susan, the children, and grandchildren, the class extends its condolences.
